TAKE A BITE

Okay so I am not sure what happened to the month of September and here we are half way into October already! We have been having some pretty amazing weather this Fall here in the New England area and a few weeks  ago I was able to spend some time with my friend Melissa along with her two sweet boys to carry on our apple picking tradition at Silverman’s Farm.

Here’s a look back on the day and of course with apple picking comes apple pie making. I am sharing my Mom’s delicious pie recipe. I do cheat on the crust (sorry) by purchasing store made pie crust…this makes the recipe super easy to make!

 Ingredients
6 or 7 tart apples (I prefer McIntosh apples)

3/4 to 1 cup sugar

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon cinnamon

dash nutmeg

pastry for 2-crust 9-inch pie

2 tablespoons butter

Pare apples and slice thin. Combine sugar, flour, spices; mix with apples. Line 9-inch pie plate with pastry, fill with apple mixture; dot with butter. Adjust top crust; sprinkle with sugar for sparkle. Bake in hot oven (400 degrees) 50 minutes.
